Message from PReS Executive Committee

Date: 07.05.2020

Dear Colleagues, dear Friends,

In these uncertain and troubled times, we would like to send our sincere good wishes to you, your families, colleagues and patients.
The PReS Council and Scientific Organizing Committee of the PReS 2020 Congress have been carefully analysing the situation regarding the congress in September.

The PReS Council unanimously agreed on the importance of holding the annual congress in order to pursue the PReS mission: Dedicated to advance the care and improve the health and well-being of children and young people with rheumatic conditions. Sharing experiences among experts, getting up to date with the latest research is critical for our patients and for the education of doctors and health professionals in our field, even in these troubled times.

We are also conscious of the continuing and uncertain pandemic impacts (e.g. on travel restrictions, extended country lockdowns, requirements to address institutions’ backlog, etc.). For these and many other reasons, we are exploring all possible ways to make the Congress happen either in the form of a hybrid Congress or a fully virtual event.

The Scientific Committee is therefore already meticulously working on adapting the Congress’ programme in terms of content and format in order to deliver high-quality education, making it accessible to the wider PReS community and still enabling exchange and interaction.

We will come to a final decision regarding whether the Congress is fully virtual (with corresponding changes to registration fee) or will have a hybrid dimension (part face-to-face component) by the end of May. For now, we would like to inform you that timelines are being adapted as needed. The upcoming deadlines have been extended by 2 weeks.

  • Abstract submission deadline is extended until Friday 29 May

  • Early bird fee deadline is extended until Tuesday 30 June

We are confident that the PReS community will rise to this new challenge; this, however, requires a thoughtful approach and we will, therefore, announce further details in the next coming weeks. In the meantime, we encourage you to submit an abstract and register for the congress when registration opens.

We thank you for your attention, please keep updated by visiting the PReS 2020 website regularly and feel free to share this email with your colleagues.

Kind regards,
PReS Executive Committee, Berent, Michael and Angelo.
